AUCTION REPORT

C & D Property Services held a well attended Auction Sale on Friday 16th July 2010 in the Memorial Hall, Longtown offering a farm, a sand quarry and accommodation land for sale.

The first lot was a 5.72 acre field near the River Eden at Cargo, north of Carlisle which was offered for sale at a guide price of £25,000. The lot was competitively bid and sold for £35,000 (approx. £6,100/ac).

The second property offered was a 38.5 acre sand quarry at Faugh, near Heads Nook, Brampton, which has commercial, leisure and other potential uses. This property was sold after the auction to a local business man.

The final property was Longtownmoor Farm, near Longtown which raised considerable local and away interest and bidding. This is an arable and stock rearing farm extending to around 154 acres, which needed some upgrading to the fields and a range of modern and traditional buildings to include a four bedroom farmhouse in need of renovation and repair. The property was first offered for sale in 3 Lots and then as a Whole. Lots 1 and 2 were competitively bid but the greatest interest was in the property as a Whole from local farmers. Longtownmoor sold for a figure well over the guide price in the sum of £930,000 which is just over £6,000/acre.
