C & D Property Services, the land and estate agency department of Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart, was set up in 1988 to provide a land and estate agency service for the existing customers of Longtown Auction Mart.

The department was initially based in an office within the Auction Mart but in 1992 it moved to separate premises in Longtown to extend its services to the local community in Longtown and surrounding areas as well as to improve the existing service to its existing client base.

Over the last few years the business has continued to expand, particularly in the sale and valuation of farms and country property in Cumbria and the south of Scotland. Large new office premises were acquired and refurbished in Longtown and the business relocated to these offices in July 2000.

The acquisition of the land agency and valuation side of the business from Thomson Roddick & Laurie enabled the business to expand geographically into south west Scotland with a second sub-office open within Dumfries Auction Mart.
